Sommersprosse Ouiska Chitto
Ouiska Chitto is from the Choctaw Indian
language. The original spelling was "uski" (cane)
and "chito" (large). Ouiska Chitto
literally means "Big Cane" -- quite probably for the sugar
cane plantations that were common along that river. Ouiska is actually pronounced
"Whiskey"; Ouiska River (aka Ouiska Chitto River; Whiskey
River; and/or Whiskey Chitto River) runs through
central and southwestern Louisiana -- mainly Allen
