This is Belle, aka Kringle's Texas
Belle. She was our first Dalmatian. She was about six weeks old in this
picture. In the second picture you can see she is patched on her rear end.
Dalmatians are born completely white. Any large area of dense color present at birth
is considered a patch. Most breed standards state that patched Dalmatians are
disqualified from the conformation show ring, although they can show in performance
(agility and road trials) and obedience events. To view the complete
AKC Dalmatian standard and compare it to those from other countries, click

bred her to a liver-spotted male Dalmatian. Nine puppies were born on August 31,
1996. Before breeding any dog, there are many things the dog owner should
consider. We did not do enough research, and bred thinking we could make
money. We found out the hard way that breeding dogs is NOT a money-making
venture. We also found out that breeding should only be done for the betterment of
the breed, and using the best available dogs. While we didn't know enough then, we
have learned a lot, and Belle and at least six of her puppies have been spayed or
neutered. For more information on what to think about before you breed, please click
below. We kept two of Belle's puppies, and took a third one back when he was four months old. That puppy and one of the others we kept were placed in new homes early last year. Everyone involved, including the dogs, couldn't be happier. We also purchased a show puppy in December 1997. We have started over, and are doing things the right way.
